Abstract Submission Guidelines for Oral and Poster Presentations

Abstracts can be submitted for consideration in:

  • Oral presentation (10-15’)
  • Flash Talk (3’) + Poster presentation
  • Poster presentation

Authors will be requested to indicate one of the following topic categories for their abstract:

  • Sensorimotor function and fatiguability in SMA
  • Cognitive function in SMA
  • Metabolism & diet in SMA
  • Regeneration in SMA
  • Optimizing treatments for SMA
  • New standards of care for SMA
  • Biomarkers in SMA
  • Other topics in SMA

Listed co-authors for each abstract: maximum 20. Additional co-authors should be referred to as a Study Group and can be displayed on the poster or acknowledged during an oral presentation.

Abstract for the Community Award

Optionally, authors may choose to have their abstracts considered for the Community Award. This award is granted by a committee of SMA-expert patient advocates and recognises research that demonstrates meaningful impact for people living with SMA, both in the short and long term. To be eligible for consideration, authors must indicate this preference in the submission form include (within the Word file and in the designated text box), a brief lay summary of their abstract (maximum 1,000 characters) highlighting the potential impact of their research on the SMA community.

Poster requirements

If selected for a poster presentation, please note:

  • Posters will be grouped by topic and displayed throughout the congress in the dedicated poster room.
  • The presenting author must be present at the poster during the entire duration of the assigned session.
  • Poster size should not exceed H = 150 cm, W = 90 cm, portrait orientation.
